This wiki on Japanese game culture came out of my involvement in the GRAND research project on gaming, graphics, animation and new media. A year ago (in 2010) I had been invited to give a talk at Ritsumeikan university and made contact with the folk there including Mitsuyuki Inaba. With a sabbatical coming up I successfully applied to the Japan Foundation for a fellowship to study Japanese game culture in Japan hosted by the Art Research Center of Ritsumeikan. This JGC wiki is one of the ways I'm organizing the materials I am gathering.

I do not read or speak Japanese and am grateful for the help extended me during this fellowship by folk at Ritsumeikan and others.
